Post Congress excursions and tours

Bern is a starting point for excursions to the famous Bernese Oberland mountains, several lakes, or the rural Emmental, all easily accessible in just one or two hours. Add some days to your stay to visit some of the top destinations round the Swiss Capital! Bern Tourism will be happy to assist you with your planning and booking at the Congress Venue on 15 July 2015.

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe
After passing through Kleine Scheidegg, you‘ll reach the Jungfraujoch, Europe‘s highest railway station at 3,545 metres. Enjoy the high Alpine world, the ice palace and the views of the Aletsch Glacier, registered on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage list.

Schilthorn – Piz Gloria
Follow in the footsteps of James Bond on the Schilthorn, at 2970 metres, filming location for ‚On Her Majesty‘s Secret Service‘. Enjoy the breath-taking panorama from the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant.

Lausanne – Olympic Capital
A varied journey by train via Fribourg brings you to Lausanne, with a fascinating view over the lake of Geneva. The Olympic Museum represents the world‘s biggest information centre devoted to the Olympic Movement and its ideals. The most memorable and moving moments of the Olympic Games are vividly presented there – a must see for sport enthusiasts.

Emmental – Home of cheese making
Visit the exhibition cheese dairy in Affoltern and learn about the manufacturing of the famous Emmental cheese.

Seeland – Three lakes region
The beautiful Seeland region with three lakes provides cruises, tours of several cities, a winegrowing area, gorges, and a visit of the Swiss watch-making industry. This region is also home to the Swiss Federal Office of Sport Magglingen, situated high above the lake of Biel.

Ballenberg – Swiss open-air museum
Almost 100 century-old buildings from all corners of Switzerland have been faithfully reconstructed on this site. Numerous craftsmen, using authentic tools, demonstrate some of the original skills.
