Content/program
This course teaches the basics for combined tours in the high mountains:

Material and knot skills, 

rescue techniques on the glacier, 

walking and safety on steep firn, 

use of the ice axe, 

Climbing techniques in ascent and descent, with and without crampons, 

belaying in alpine terrain

Abseiling and lowering.

Application tours on the Chanzelgrat and on the Grassen

Arrival and timetable:

Bern from: 7:04 am 

Meeting point at Meiringen railway station at 8.35 am. Then take the Alpentaxi to Sustenbrüggli.

Travelling costs are the responsibility of the participants.

 The stated costs cover the guide and the organisation.

Accommodation costs in the Sustlihütte SAC are not included in the price. These will be paid on site.

Prerequisites for attendance

Very good physical condition for all-day mountain tours. Sure-footedness and a head for heights. Good coordination for ridge climbing on the ascent and descent.

Equipment

Backpack 30-35l packing volume, snacks for 3 days, water bottle, sunglasses (at least protection factor 3), sun cream, lipstick, sun hat, earplugs, headlamp, silk sleeping bag, toothbrush, blister plasters, small first-aid kit with personal medication, if available SAC ID card, gloves, hat, windproof breathable clothing, rain protection, sports underwear, light down jacket, waterproofs, waterproofs, sun cream, lipstick, sun hat, headlamp. Climbing harness, 2 120cm slings, at least 3 screw carabiners, 2 quickdraws, Prusik sling, abseiling device, 5-6m long and 5-6mm diameter cord, if available Microtraxion (automatic backstop/climbing clamp), if available single rope (40-50m long), mountain boots and adapted crampons with anti-slip, possibly gaiters, ice axe, helmet.
