Preface 

For a long time, diving experts around the world try to find a system for ranking divers in the different disciplines and to establish a World Ranking for Diving. Such rankings are, of course, well-known in Tennis and other sports.  

There are some quiet interesting systems, but they are all based on difficult mathematical procedures. 

To make the system easy to calculate and to understand, the following ranking system is based on a point system for the divers' results (ranking) at FINA events.

In the past the four best results &ndash per 12 month period, per discipline and per diver &ndash were added and divided by 4. This average determined the ranking of a diver. 
 

New system

After decision by the FINA Bureau from 2007 only the three best results &ndash per 12 month period, per discipline and per diver &ndash are added and divided by 3. This average determines the ranking of a diver. 

A minimum of points is requered in all individual events to earn ranking points.
Men: 330 Points, Women 225 Points (from 2009)

After decision by the FINA Bureau from 2015 the points at FINA Diving World Cups will be the same as at Olympic Games and FINA World Championships.
